Music, movies and TV shows create entertainment for our family and friends. We love to gather together and experience goods times whether watching our favorite sporting event, movie or listening to music outside while having everyone over for a BBQ and pool party. Music and home theater bring excitement and joy into our lives.
One of our favorite things about helping people with home theater and whole house music is to see the big smiles they have when playing their favorite clip from a movie or listening to a top hit song from their new home theater or distributed audio system.

This is a very broad question. A lot depends on your budget. You can get a sound system for under $1,000 or spend $10,000+ for a sound system.
A sound system is a combination of the amplifier, source of audio and the speakers. Also, can you run wires to each of the surround sound speaker locations or will you need some some wireless speakers?
Start with a budget range of what you are willing to invest into a sound system. Then look at the options within your budget. Have a professional help you get the best sound system for the money you have to invest in your home entertainment system.
Yes. There are some wireless options. High-end systems are normally wired but there are wireless options for typical family room environments. When wireless is used for a sound system, most often it is for the rear surround sound speakers and the subwoofer. These 'wireless" speakers still need to get power and will be plugged into an electrical outlet, but you will not need to run wires from the speakers to the AV receiver.
The front speakers including the center channel, left and right speakers are normally able to be wired. Sound bars with built-in amplifiers, need wires run from audio sources and also have a power wire. Passive sound bars need to have speaker wires ran to them from the AV receiver.
A home theater system has:
For most small family rooms, a 5.1 system will sound just as good as a 7.1 system. There needs to be enough room to have some distance between the four surround sound speakers for a 7.1 to make a significant difference. You need a room large enough to make 7.1 worth it.
You may consider adding Dolby Atmos speakers to a 5.1 system in a small room before adding additional surround sound speakers for a 7.1 surround sound system.
Klipsch Home Theater Surround Sound Speakers with Dolby Atmos give you a completely immersive experience.
